LOWER SCHOOL

K through 5th | Bailey Bridge Campus

In the Lower School at CCA, curiosity deepens into confidence as students develop a genuine love for learning and a strong biblical worldview. Our teachers lead children through rich, engaging academic experiences that build a solid foundation while nurturing leadership, responsibility, and compassion. Classrooms are places of both challenge and joy; where questions are welcomed, learning is active, and God’s truth is central.

As a parent, you want your child to grow academically, but you also care deeply about their spiritual foundation. According to a survey by the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), 63% of believers make a decision for Christ between the ages of 4 and 14.

When your child joins CCA, their days are rooted in faith. Students begin mornings with worship, attend chapel every other week, and experience a biblical worldview woven throughout every subject and grade level.

Our Lower School core subjects include:

  • Bible: Deep Roots Bible Curriculum

  • Language Arts: Purposeful Design – reading comprehension, grammar, and writing

  • Math: Singapore Math – concrete to abstract understanding

  • Science: Purposeful Design – hands-on discovery of God’s creation

  • Social Studies: Purposeful Design – U.S. and World history through a Christian lens

  • "Our kids are being challenged by an academically rigorous curriculum, but just as importantly, they are surrounded by a Christ-centered environment that shapes their character and confidence."

    -The Ports Family

  • "I’m most excited to watch the friendships he’s forming now grow into lifelong friendships as he moves up through the grades. There’s something special about knowing many of these children and families will walk alongside him for years to come."

    -The Patterson Family

  • "They are always happy and excited for each day, and it has been a joy to see their spiritual and academic growth over these past 4 years."

Meet the Principal

Kristal Zink was born and raised in Chesterfield County and has devoted more than 21 years to the field of education. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Longwood University, equipping her with a strong academic foundation and a passion for lifelong learning. Kristal spent 16 years serving in public education before faithfully responding to what she describes as a clear calling from the Lord to join Cloverhill Christian Academy, where she is now in her fifth year of ministry and leadership.

Kristal believes wholeheartedly in the words of Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” She views education not simply as a profession, but as a calling to disciple, equip, and shepherd young hearts and minds for Christ. Her desire is to partner with families to cultivate both academic excellence and strong biblical character in every student.

Kristal has been married to her husband for 16 years, and together they are raising two middle school daughters. Their family also includes a beloved black lab, Daisy, who keeps life joyful and active. For over 13 years, Kristal and her family have called Cloverhill Church home. They love serving in their church and throughout the community, seeking to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever God places them.

Kristal considers it a blessing and privilege to serve at Cloverhill Christian Academy, where faith and learning are woven together to impact students for eternity.
